WHAT LED YOU TO START WORKING IN DIGITAL/MEDIA PUBLISHING?

I was teaching high school full time and wanted to do something that would allow me to work from home and be with her more.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

I get up at 6 am and do Bible study for a half hour then work on my blog/business for about 45 minutes. At 7:30, I begin my work day. I work full time from home for a major health insurance company. At lunch, I go for a long walk and usually eat at my desk while working after I get back. I quit for the day around 4:30-5 and usually do some blog work after that. Then I eat dinner with my family, play games with my kids, and go to bed to start all over again the next day.

WHAT’S YOUR WORK SETUP LOOK LIKE?

My work office has two very large monitors and a laptop. My blog setup is a MacBook Pro and iPhone 7Plus with mostly the basics – Chrome, iMessages, iTunes, iPhoto, Photoshop, Instagram, Facebook. I use Evernote, Google Drive, Dropbox, and iCloud a lot as well as LastPass, but otherwise haven’t gotten very much into productivity apps and tools.

WHAT DO YOU DO OR GO TO GET INSPIRED?

Live my life. I think a full life is the best inspiration for any writer.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF WRITING OR QUOTE?

My favorite piece of writing is Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost.

WHAT IS THE PASSIONATE PROBLEM YOU ARE TACKLING AT THE MOMENT?

How to balance my blog with my career and my family time. I’m not sure that balance is ever possible, but yet something we (especially working moms) have to work hard at striving for.

Is there a Product, Solution, or Tool that you think is a Good Match For Your Digital Publishing Efforts?

WordPress.org is the best tool there is for blogging.

ANY ADVICE FOR AMBITIOUS DIGITAL PUBLISHING AND MEDIA PROFESSIONALS JUST STARTING OUT?

Learn as much as you can about as much as you can, but then start writing. If you don’t start writing – and keep writing, you won’t ever get anywhere online.
